Airport Loudspeakers

Loudspeakers used in airports face unique challenges – the physical environment is harsh (moisture, dust, vibration, UV radiation, chemical fumes and solvents, etc.) and the level of background sound is usually quite high due to crowd and equipment noise.  Most commercially-available loudspeakers, particularly the compact ones needed for distributed audio systems, cannot generate the necessary SPL to project over a 75-80 dB background noise level, and are too physically and electrically fragile to offer a long lifespan.

In contrast, Technomad Inc. offers seven loudspeaker models which are ideally suited to the needs of airport installations.  For example, the ultra-compact Vernal (9″ x 6″ x 6″) is equipped with a horn-loaded 1″ ceramic HF driver which radically outperforms the dome tweeter or “no tweeter” approach common in cabinets of this size.  The Vernal 15 also features a high-excursion 5″ poly cone bass driver, a military specification 810E enclosure, available internal 70-volt transformer (with power taps up to 60 Watts), 14 available colors, and more.  This remarkable compact loudspeaker easily outperforms other ultra-compact loudspeakers, offering the designer or contractor the ability to cover larger areas with higher-quality sound, using fewer loudspeakers than with traditional systems.
